What families ask us
What ages and hours do you have?
We have a room for 2-year-olds, a room for 3-year-olds and a room for 4-year-olds. Children come for a half day, three mornings a week, or the school day, and the building is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
How does a tour work?
Tours are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings while the rooms are busy. You see each room, meet the teachers and ask what you like. Children are welcome to come along, and a tour takes about an hour.
What sets tuition?
Your child's room, the schedule you pick and whether your child comes in the school year or the summer weeks. We don't print figures on this site; we go through them with you on the tour.
How is a place held, and how does the waitlist work?
A place is held once we have your enrollment form and a deposit. When a room is full, families join a waitlist for that room and schedule, and we offer places in the order families joined. Summer weeks fill by the week.
Is the school licensed, and what are the ratios?
Pecan Grove is licensed by DECAL, Georgia's early care and learning agency. The license line is at the foot of every page, and each room has a set number of adults for its age group and a limit on its group size.
What happens when a child is ill?
A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and comes back after being well for a full day. If a child gets sick at school, we call you right away and a teacher stays with the child until you arrive.
What about photos of my child?
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
What should my child bring?
Play clothes that can get wet, muddy or painted, closed shoes for the yard, a sun hat in summer and a spare set of clothes in a labeled bag. Children on the school day also bring lunch and a water bottle.
Does my child need to use the toilet on their own?
In the twos room, teachers help children who are still learning. In the threes and fours rooms, children use the toilet on their own with a teacher close by, because the group is larger. If your child is still learning, tell us on the tour and we will talk it through together.
What happens on a hard day?
Every child has hard moments. A teacher gets down to the child's level, stays close and offers a quiet place and words for what is happening. We tell you about it at pickup, and we talk with you if it keeps happening.
Still have a question?
Write to us or call, and a person at the school will answer.
